Industrial Fiber Optics is in the process of expanding our SMA 905 connector product line to include sterilizable connectors. These connectors can be used with a 2.2 mm or 3.0 mm strain relief boot. The dust caps have built in slits to allow air passage during the sterilization process if needed. Each connector will have a data sheet with specifications on things such as hole tolerance and concentricity.

Multi-core POF with its large number of cores emplaced in a sea of clad is a type of optical fiber capable of withstanding tight bends without causing the signal attenuation to rise significantly. Hollow multi-core fibers from Asahi Kasei can be used as highly flexible light guides, or to illuminate an image guide fiber placed through the central cavity.
